This week went by really fast, and I think it's because our time is running up with the students. This Wednesday I finally got to teach my lesson! To be honest, I was extremely nervous about teaching the entire class at one time because I didn't think I could hold their attention. The lesson ended up going over really well though, and the students all listened and were very well behaved. I was very grateful for their cooperation. I felt very professional when I got to use the overhead and pick students to answer. It was almost a game for the kids to figure out who could find the words the fastest. I am finally getting to the point where I am realizing I only have one week left with these kids. I've grown so close to them and I can't imagine not going to my school to teach my kids. The experience has just been awesome and helped lead me in the right career path.

This week probably my most memorable one, it was just really fun, to put in blatant words. First the school, was testing kids in IQ test, from what I understand. One was gone for that with the aide, so I got to work with a little boy Chris while Mrs. Montgomery worked with the two second grader boys on rulers. It was nice because I got spend more time with him and Brandon this week. Because I’m usually working with the others more trouble makers. I also got the little kindergartener places because she could not go places by herself. On Wednesday, because of testing and specials, the little kindergartener ended up being the only student in the classroom. And of course there was a fire drill! So we had to take her out with everyone. On the way back after it was over, I walked her back, I felt like such a teacher. Then on Thursday, I worked with Brandon a lot, what I noticed with him is that when you work with him, he works a lot faster than when he is alone. He is also extremely bright, but downs himself a lot and is very negative. He really needs more encouragements in his life. And he needs to stop watching those idiotic cartoon network shows. I do not know if anyone knows the shows, but the new cartoons are very inappropriate and then he repeats it and thinks it’s funny when it’s definitely not. What happen to Arthur? Or at least he could watch Phineas and Ferb. It was very sad to see what television is doing to the 2000 generation of children. Anyways, I just did really respond and just told him to keep working and he did. Then when he was on free time, I played cards with him. It was cute, he kept saying, “that I know how to play this game, my dad taught me”, but it clearly was not a real game. It started out like goldfish and by the time he had to go to a special it turned out to be like a yugio game. It nice I got to spend time with him. On Tuesday, I worked with Chris on reading, he is a very good reader. He was also working on spelling words on the computer, which I thought was brilliant. They get a chance to be on the computer but also learn where the letters are located while learning their words for the week. Next week I will be doing an experiment with them. I am very excited.

This week went well. I got to help out the teacher with the kids more then I ever had. I went around the room and made sure the kids knew what they were doing. Most of the kids are more comfortable with me now because they ask me for help unlike they did the first time I was in the class. I feel more comfortable with the kids, I'm going to be sad when this coming week is up because I know its my last time seeing them. The kids are so great to anyone that they meet or people they know. The teacher barley has to get mad at the kids, which makes me feel good, when I do my lesson with them.

This week was quite nice. I continued my letter work with some of the struggling kids. I’ve gotten a good grip on their normal mode of operation and normal behavior. The one student of mine who has difficulty with his letters always wants help with everything, even though he can figure out the answer. You have to coax it out of him at times, but he eventually gets it. I’ve seen some improvement in some of them after working with them over the last couple of weeks. One of them who confuses the sound of the letter ‘W’ with that of the letter ‘D,’ has been getting better at recognizing which is which. I’ve been explaining in simple terms what the difference is and he stumbles sometimes, but gets it right most of the time. This class can be a bit of a challenge, especially in the volume and behavioral departments. As I’ve been watching Mrs.Tosch handle them, I’ve been able to better understand letting some of it go is ok but there will always be a limit. I’ve been doing what I can to keep their attention, which can either go badly or smoothly, depending on their level of energy that day. As the last week is approaching, I’m hoping that the past four weeks have prepared me well enough to give my lesson. Keeping their focus, being confident in my control that is being relinquished to me, and having a good amount of fun is my game plan.

This week I noticed thay I am getting a bit closer to the kids and i will genuinely miss them. I did my lesson which was a game to review for a test they were taking. I had to stop the game because i had to leave, but they did not want me to leave. The game went relatively well. I should have maybe preplanned a little better, but thats okay the game was still a success. Im sad that this next week is our last! :/

This week I worked individually with children on past assignments they needed help with. I also had to deal a lot with disciplining and threatening to "change" colors with the same kids every other day. My same boy Cleve is always complaining that he never gets to do anything and ends up pouting until he gets to do something. So I finally decided to do something about it I made it fair by telling everyone before calendar started that if they complain or pout they would have to change their color and it has worked. It's difficult to realize how long it takes to learn new things. I've been in this class for a total of five weeks and I'm just now learning to discipline so I don't like how it's almost over. I love being in my class and I look forward to them everyday, it's going to be hard not seeing them anymore. I can't wait to do more student teaching in college.

The semester is winding down and my second to last week with my students did not really happen. I was sick on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, so I only was able to see my class on Wednesday. On Wednesday I took students who were struggling with integers into the hallway and helped them with their online practice. I actually became somewhat excited to see the light-bulb click on in each one of their heads. One-by-one they all started to really understand integers.
Well it was short but sweet. I really did enjoy my one day with my kids and wish the semester was not almost over.
